Owo Attack: Owo Women Gather Indo Town To Curse Perpetrators, Says They Will Regret Attacking Owo
Aggrieved women of Ondo State has taken to Owo town on Tuesday to react to the Owo attack which was carried out by some unknown gunmen at St. Francis Catholic Church, in Owo town, Ondo State.
Reacting to the Owo attack, the women gathered at the Owo town with some herbal concoctions and knieves to lay curses on the perpetrators of Sunday’s massacre of worshippers at St. Francis Catholic Church.
The women claimed they were summoning the ancestral spirit of the land to rise and fight the killers and avenge the victims’ deaths.
According to BBC Pidgin, one of the women said, “Our ancestors will answer our prayers, and those people will regret ever coming to Owo.”
The women, whose number could not be determined due to their large number, were armed with cutlasses, leaves, and herbal concoctions.
They gathered in the middle of town and formed a circle around some items, hoping to see the face of the gods and bring justice to the terrorists.
On Sunday, a group of terrorists attacked the church, killing 22 people and injuring at least 19.
The attack, which remains one of Nigeria’s deadliest violent incidents under President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration, has been condemned across the country and in the diaspora.
Despite the fact that the state governor, Rotimi Akeredolu, has promised to “hunt down” the killers and “make them pay,” no arrests have been made.
