The federal govt. of Nigeria has directed all civil servants in the country to get vaccinated against the COVID-19 virus as this will soon become a requirement to keep their office.
The Chairman of the Presidential Steering Committee (PSC) on COVID-19, Boss Mustapha, announced the new directive at its briefing on Wednesday.
Mr Mustapha said beginning December 1, 2021 all federal government employees will be required to show proof of COVID-19 vaccination or present a negative PCR result to gain access to their offices.
In his words;
“With effect from 1st December, 2021, Federal Government employees shall be required to show proof of COVID-19 vaccination or present a negative COVID-19 PCR test result done within 72 hours, to gain access to their offices, in all locations within Nigeria and our Missions.”
To guide the process, he stated that an appropriate service-wide circular would be issued.
Mr Mustapha stated on September 2, 2021, that once vaccines are accessible for everyone, the COVID-19 vaccination will be mandatory for federal civil personnel.
He explained that at a time it will be mandatory for travelers, including civil officials’ to present their COVID-19 immunization before traveling out of the country.
