The Federal Government through the Federal Executive Council (FEC) has approved the right to 14-days6 paternity leave for male federal civil servants.
This according to the FEC is to allow father’s to bond very well with their new infants.
This was disclosed to State House Correspondents on Wednesday by the Federation’s Head of Service, Dr Folasade Yemi-Esan, following the week’s virtual FEC meeting at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, presided over by Yemi Osinbajo (SAN).
This, she explained, is to allow for adequate bonding between a father and a newborn child, whether natural-born or adopted, especially during the early stages of the child’s life.
Mrs. Yemi-Esan went on to say that fathers of adopted babies who are less than four months old will enjoy this gesture as well.
